Gyrokinesis Pre-Training — Weekend 1 (First of two weekends, part of the 30-hour course)
This 6-day Weekend 1 introduces the foundations of Gyrokinesis practice and prepares participants for the full 30-hour certification sequence. Designed for aspiring Gyrokinesis instructors, movement professionals, and committed students, the weekend balances embodied practice, movement theory, and teaching preparation to build a reliable base of technique, rhythm, and sequencing.
What you will learn
Core principles and history of Gyrokinesis: movement philosophy, breath, rhythm, and segmental articulation.
Foundational movement patterns: spinal undulations, spirals, lateral flexion, and coordinated joint mobilization.
Breath and rhythm integration: coordinating breath with dynamic movement sequences to enhance mobility and fluidity.
Basic progressions and regressions: adaptations for different bodies and skill levels.
Safe alignment and joint care: recognizing limits, preventing strain, and promoting joint health.
Teaching essentials: cueing basics, class structure, sequencing fundamentals, and building accessible classes.
Observation and feedback skills: how to assess movement quality and offer effective, clear feedback.
Course structure
Duration: 6 days (Weekend 1 of 2). Total hours contribute to the 30-hour pre-training requirement.
Format: Combination of guided practice, hands-on observation, group discussion, and practical teaching labs.
Daily rhythm: warm-up and breath work, focused technique sessions, applied sequencing practice, and teaching/practice labs.
