GYROKINESIS® Pre-Training

  • Unfolding Body 2314 Rosewall Crescent, Unit B Courtenay BC (map)

Weekend 2 of 2: Gyrokinesis Foundation — 6 Days (Completes 30‑Hour Pre‑Training)

This second weekend continues the intensive Gyrokinesis sequence and completes the full 30-hour pre‑training requirement. It builds on the first weekend’s work with continued practice of the course exercise list and introduction to format 2 material. Designed for aspiring Gyrokinesis instructors, movement professionals, and committed students, the weekend balances embodied practice, movement theory, and teaching preparation to deliver a reliable base of technique, rhythm, and sequencing.

What you will learn

  • Core principles and history of Gyrokinesis: movement philosophy, breath, rhythm, and segmental articulation — with emphasis on integrating these into full class flow.

  • Refined movement patterns: advanced spinal undulations, spirals, lateral flexion, and coordinated joint mobilization executed with greater control and continuity.

  • Breath and rhythm integration: synchronizing breath with more complex, continuous movement sequences to enhance mobility, fluidity, and endurance.

  • Progressions and regressions: refining adaptations for varied bodies and skill levels, including hands‑on adjustments and verbal modifications.

  • Safe alignment and joint care: deeper strategies for recognizing limits, preventing strain, and promoting joint health across longer sequences.

Course structure

  • Duration: 6 days (Weekend 2 of 2). Completes the 30‑hour pre‑training requirement when combined with Weekend 1.

  • Format: A blend of guided practice, supervised teaching labs, hands‑on observation, group discussion, and practical assessment.

  • Daily rhythm: warm‑up and breath work, focused technique refinement, applied sequencing practice, peer teaching labs, and feedback sessions.

Who this is for

  • Aspiring Gyrokinesis instructors completing their pre‑training who want confidence to teach progressive, safe classes.

  • Movement professionals (Pilates, yoga, physiotherapy, osteopathy, personal trainers) seeking to integrate Gyrokinesis principles into their work.

  • Dedicated students aiming for a deeper embodied understanding of dynamic joint mobility and spinal articulation, and the ability to self‑direct practice.

Prerequisites

  • Completion of Weekend 1 is required.

Outcomes

  • Confident delivery of cohesive Gyrokinesis class sequences.

  • Improved ability to adapt progressions and regressions for diverse participants.

  • Practical experience teaching and receiving targeted feedback to support continued development toward certification.

What to bring and prepare

  • Comfortable, breathable clothing that allows full range of motion.

  • Water bottle and small towel.

  • Openness to movement exploration and partner work.

  • Recommended: a notebook for notes and sequencing ideas.

Certification note Weekend 2 is the second module in the 30-hour Gyrokinesis pre-training. Completion of both weekends (Weekend 1 + Weekend 2) fulfills the pre-training hours required for progression in the Gyrokinesis teacher training pathway.

Location and booking Sessions are held at Unfolding Body Tin Town in Courtenay, BC. Space is limited to preserve quality of instruction and hands-on learning—early registration is recommended.
